Quebec Liberal Party housing plan: $1.5B in investments for 40,000 additional social and affordable housing units

Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, September 1, 2026 – Patrice Léger Bourgoin, Quebec Liberal Party candidate in Saint-Jean, supports his party's housing plan: $1.5B in investments for 40,000 additional social and affordable housing units.

A Liberal government commits to:

• Adding 40,000 affordable units to the rental stock through a coordinated approach of new construction and acquisitions;
• Reserving a significant share of new projects for the most vulnerable, particularly people experiencing homelessness, people with disabilities, youth leaving the DPJ system, seniors, students, and second-stage resources for women fleeing domestic violence;
• Setting a target of raising the share of non-market housing to 20% by 2050.

"In Saint-Jean as elsewhere, too many families spend a disproportionate share of their income on housing. This plan tackles the problem through supply, protecting the most vulnerable first," says Patrice Léger Bourgoin.
